How many rats are usually in a nest?

Rats can reproduce up to 6 times a year with an average of 4 to 8 pups each. Rats can travel from 100 to 300 feet from the nest in order to find food. In an area as small as 10 feet from the nest or as far away as 50 feet, house mice can look for food and materials.
