How much pipe is required for a geothermal ground loop?

Being able to lay trenches according to the shape of the land is one of the advantages of a horizontal loop system. 500 to 600 feet of pipe is required for each ton of capacity. A 2,000 square-foot home needs a three-ton system with 1,500 to 1,800 feet of pipe.
