How often should central air run?

In mild weather, a properly sized and functioning AC will run for fifteen minutes at a time. Two to three times per hour is what it is. It's probably too big for your home if your air conditioner runs for less than ten minutes at a time.In the mild climate, sufficient size and AC operation takes place in cycles of about 15 minutes each. It is about two or three times per hour. If the air conditioning works less than ten minutes at a given time, then it is probably too large for your home.
