Is there a difference between coaxial cables?

The two types of shielding that coaxial cables come with are braid and foil. Some RG 59 cables still use single shielding, but most of the coaxial cables do. Is that correct? There are cables with an extra layer of foil and braid shielding that can offer better protection.
