Is voltage higher in series or parallel?

The series circuit has a higher voltage than the parallel circuit. The voltage is not increased. Is this true? In a series circuit, we have a constant amount of current flowing through each component and a constant amount of voltage across each component, which adds up to make it equal to the particular voltage of a whole circuit.
