mold or mildew on the door gasket

If you notice mold in your washing machine or on the seal of your washing machine, there's likely got an issue with your system. Let’s find out what’s up so you can get rid of that mold.

Why do I have front load washer gasket mold?

You may experience mold in your washing machine due to residue buildup. Here’s what can cause it.

Potential issues

  • mold or mildew on the door gasket
  • Inside of the washer drum feels gritty
  • Inside of the washer drum feels slimy

When your washing machine enters a rinse and spin cycle, it begins to spin quickly as it releases the water in the drum. When the washer is working properly, it should remove all water and detergent from the drum and send it down the drain line. If there is residual detergent or moisture left over, it means that there's something preventing this cycle from working efficiently. Depending on what's causing the issue, it may be able to be corrected with preventative maintenance or it may require a repair.
