What causes an oil pan gasket to leak?

Bad connections, degraded engine gaskets, oil pan leaks, and oil seals are some of the causes of leaks. Check the oil pan seals when you crawl under the car. Check the oil pan drain plug while you are there. Check the timing cover and valve cover gasket.
