What does a flashing flame mean on a thermostat?

When the system switch is in the HEAT position, the 11 flame icon is displayed. The flame icon is displayed when the second stage heat is on. If the thermostat is in a mode that prevents the compressor from cycling too quickly, the icons will be displayed.
