What does a heat pump do in defrost mode?
The frost has to be removed. A heat pump removes frost from the outdoor coil with a cycle called a defrost cycle. When frost conditions occur, a heat pump unit will thaw out. The cycle should be long enough to melt the ice and short enough to be energy- efficient.
