What does auxiliary heat on mean on my honeywell thermostat?

Auxiliary heat is the secondary heating source. The device that provides heat turns off when the thermostat is set to keep the maximum temperature. There are two possible heat sources for the thermostat. The heat source is dependent on how the unit was wired.
