What happens when you remove a load bearing wall?

When a wall is removed that maintains the ends of the ceiling junction or armpits, then the weight of the ceiling and any load above it can cause the sag or fall of the ceiling. The ceiling can sag by half a inch or more, and in some cases it can collapse.
