What is a faucet supply line?

Most valves have compression thread discharge ports. There are two 1/2 inch male pipe-threads in the sink. The valve's discharge port and the faucet intake port are connected by a faucet supply line. A refrigerator's ice maker uses 1/2-inch tubing with 1/2-inch compression fittings on both ends.
