What is a trap arm in plumbing?

The trap under a plumbing device is probably the oldest plumbing feature that is still in use today. The trap arm is the part of a drainage installation between a trap dam and its protective ventilation. The trap dam is the point at the bottom of the arm trap pipe where it connects to the trap.
