What is an input and output device?

An Input device feeds information or data into a system. An output device feeds information or data out of the system. In computer technology, a good example of an input device is a microphone. An example of the output device for a microphone is the speakers. But if you have a headset which consists of both a microphone and speakers, then this acts as both the input and the output device.
