What is difference between motor and generator?

The Motor converts electric energy into mechanical energy. Is that correct? In the case of the Generator the Shaft is attached to the rotor and is driven by mechanical force, whereas in the case of the motor the Shaft is attached to the armature and is driven by magnetic force.
