What is meant by equivalent pipe?

If the flow of discharge and head loss in the actual piping system is the same as that of the equivalent pipe, then equivalent pipes refer to imaginary pipes which are used to determine the head loss and flow of discharge. The two important properties of the pipe have to be assumed during analysis.
