What is the difference between a heat pump and a straight cool system?

Straight cool systems do not differ from heat pumps. During the colder winter months, heat pumps provide a cooling cycle and absorb heat from the outdoors and bring it inside. Straight cool systems only have one cooling cycle but can include electric strip heating.
