What is the difference between a wood burning stove and a coal burning stove?

A coal stove is good for burning wood. It will work without a problem, even though it won't burn as long as the coal would. A wood stove doesn't burn coal very well. Even if the wood stove has a grate, it won't be enough to support a coal bed.
