What is the proper way to join galvanized pipe to copper pipe?

Add a new galvanized steel pipe length at each end. Use a piece of paper to clean the pipe. Attach the brass end of the union to the copper and steel end of the galvanized pipe. Finally, join the two ends with a nut.
