What is the reason for humming sound in transformer?

Why do transformers hum? The phenomenon that causes a piece of magnetic sheet steel to extend when magnetized is what causes transformer noise. It goes back to its original condition when the magnetization is taken away. This phenomenon is called magnetostriction.
