What size of drain is required for a combination tub shower?

A 1 1/2-inch drain pipe and P-trap is required for tub and shower combinations. It is better to have a 2-inch drain pipe. A 2-inch drain and P-trap is required for shower only units. The horizontal drop or angle of fall is one-quarter inch per linear foot.
