What voltage does a ballast put out?

The fluorescent lamps use a ballast that converts the voltage of the line into a voltage to start and run the lamp (s). The most recent fluorescent ballasts are generally evaluated for 120 volts and 277 volts. Some are evaluated for only 120 volts, others for only 277 volts (used in commercial environments).
