Why do homes use parallel circuits instead of series circuits?

Parallel circuits are used in homes because loads can be operated on their own. For example, if a series circuit was used, the lights would be dimmer with the addition of more lights. A parallel circuit avoids that issue. The load has the full power of the circuit when using a parallel circuit instead of a series circuit.
