Why do you need to reset ECU?

It doesn't have to start from scratch the next time you turn your engine over because theECU stores these "learned" values in battery backed-up RAM. The process of clearing the long term memory from theECU's memory is called "resetting the ECU". Fuel, spark, and more are trimmed by these variables.
