Why is my microwave arcing?

Food particles and grease escape the food and stick to the wave guide during cooking. The food particles that are stuck in the magnetron appear to be a spark to us. The wave guide cover is damaged. Frequent sparks are caused by a damaged or shorted wave guide cover.
