Why is my sink gurgling when i flush the toilet?

The sink will gurgle when the toilet is flushed because the drain pipes are connected. The toilet and sink vent allow air in to equalize the pressure, and the water flowing in the toilet waste pipe creates a vacuum. Is that correct? The sound of air passing through the trap isgurgling.
