Why is my smoke detector beeping for no reason?

Smoke detectors are meant to beep or chirp to alert you to a problem. If your alarm is chirping, the most common reason is that the battery needs replacing. Once you change the battery, the chirping will stop. If the chirping continues after replacing the battery, this means you have a newer model. These newer models store errors in the processor, so the smoke alarm will need to be manually reset after changing the battery.
