Why wont my fire alarms go off?

The batteries have to be removed if you can. If your smoke alarm doesn't have a battery, muffle it in a blanket, under a sofa cushion or in your freezer until it stops. Try to get the reset button on the smoke alarm. The noise might be stopped if the circuit breaker is flipped off and back on.
